About Megan: 5 Fast Facts
I write a lot about photography business and marketing, but sometimes it can feel a bit faceless. There are hours spent writing and writing, and sometimes I lose myself in my own content. I put together these fast facts to get to know a little more about who I am as a person. (You know, in case you’re genuinely curious.)
1. I’m a born and raised Canadian
I was born in Toronto and grew up in a small town called Grimsby, Ontario. Grimsby is an area of the Niagara region surrounded by beautiful nature and happy people. We lived on a beautiful old Christmas tree farm, and the area was filled with land and forests to explore. Living in such a beautiful place is what first sparked my love of photography. I still look for nature wherever I go, even if it’s small patches of nature in the city.
2. I love dogs more than life itself
I’m a major dog person. We even had a family poodle join us at the altar for our wedding. When I’m walking down the street and I make eye contact with a dog, you can bet I’ll be trying to pet them. If you’ve got a dog, I’d love to meet them (and you!)
3. My first wedding shoot was at 14 years old
The first time I tried wedding photography, I was second-shooting at 14 years old. It was a wonderful experience with a local photographer who wanted to show me the ropes of wedding photography. I’m so grateful for that experience that threw me into a love of weddings.
4. I’m an avid baker
When I’m not behind a lens or a laptop, you can catch me with my KitchenAid. I am an avid baker who is always trying to find ways to incorporate chocolate into my day. My favorite bake is a batch of chocolate peanut butter cookies. When I got married, doing a bridal diet was totally off the table. There was no way I could give up my bakes!
5. My guilty (but not really) pleasure is wedding-themed reality TV
Sometimes, you need to just totally switch off. That’s exactly what I do when I watch wedding-themed reality TV shows–– just totally relax and tune out the rest of the world. My favorite shows are Don’t Tell the Bride (it’s from the UK but I watch endless amounts of it on YouTube), 90 Day Fiancé and obviously Say Yes to the Dress.
