As a part of your marketing strategy, it’s important for photographers to grow their email lists. Email lists are your only truly native audience. Your social audience is owned by algorithms that are ever-changing and ever frustrating. But how can photographers grow their email list? Start with these quick tips to grow your email list as a photographer.

Freebies

Giving away freebies as a photographer is a great way to grow your email list. Instead of creating a direct download link, grow your email list as a photographer by creating email forms that trigger freebie downloads. It’s a great way to introduce new people to your brand and attract readers to your site. Having them join an email list through freebies opens up the opportunity to introduce them to other relevant content that may interest them.

Clients

Your clients are great to add to your email list–– with their permission! Having your clients on your email list will allow you to share your latest work with them, give them helpful tips and more. For example, if you’re a wedding photographer, you may want to share wedding tips leading up to their big day. For past clients, showing them what you’re currently up to may entice them to re-hire you for their next photography need.

Social

Creating an enticing newsletter and sharing it through social is a great way to get new subscribers onto your email list. Services like Mailchimp allow you to share your email campaigns via social to attract new audiences. It will filter out those who are genuinely interested in the work you’re putting out there to sign up and hear more from you.

Blogging consistently as a photographer is a great way to grow your email list. Having a variety of ways for new viewers and your recurring audience to sign up for your email list gives them more opportunities to stay connected. The more content you’re putting out there, the more likely it is that your content will be introduced to new audiences who may want to hear more from you.
